Parents & Guardians Zone

We take the safety and well being of your child very seriously. We aim to comply with all aspects of our governing body's polices for safeguarding children that you can read about here.

In order for your child to participate in many of the Club's activities like the ladder and away team events, we require you to complete our Parental Consent Form that you can get from our downloads page. This form gives us the information and consent that we need to properly care for your child in the unlikely event of an emergency. It also gives your consent for them to join in with some of our activities. Please print off a copy, complete it and return it to Greg Tippings.

You may be reading this because your child is demonstrating to you that they use the Internet responsibly. They are complying with our request to get your consent for them to join Newport Squash Club's Internet based squash ladder and to enlist your help in the process. We want you to be fully aware of what they are doing and approve the personal information they supply when they register.

The junior squash ladder is there to encourage junior members to play against each other and to determine the ranking of the junior players at our Club. In the old days it used to be administrated with cards in a rack on a wall. In the modern age its done via the Internet to make it simpler to arrange games and administrate the results.

We have chosen to use a commercial service from ropeyladder.com to run our squash ladder on the Internet. We have fully complied with all their guidelines for running children's ladders. Please take a moment to read them and then help your child through the registration and joining process. Your child's participation in the ladder is completely free of charge as the Club pays for it. They will not be accepted onto the ladder until a signed consent form (discussed above) is received by Greg Tippings.

We encourage our junior members to socialise at the Club in connection with their squash playing activities. Please note however, the Club is not a crèche or child-care service of any kind. Your child is not to be left unaccompanied there for extended periods of time particularly if they are under 12.

In an effort to encourage young people to play squash, we grant our child members tremendous benefits including very low cost membership, coaching and free courts. In return we expect your child to abide by the Code of Conduct and, as their parent or guardian, we expect your support in enforcing it. Please ensure that your child appreciates the importance of this code and the potential consequences for breaching it which include suspension of membership.

If you have any questions relating to any aspects of safeguarding your child, please discuss it with Greg.
